Seven + Ember Candle Care Guidelines
Candle Care Guidelines
At Seven + Ember, each candle is hand-poured in small batches in Australia. Subtle variations in colour and texture may occur and are part of the natural character of coconut soy wax.
To ensure a safe, clean, and long-lasting burn, please follow the care instructions below.
Essential Candle Care
1. Trim the Wick
Trim wick to 5mm (¼ inch) before each burn to reduce smoke and soot.
For wooden wicks, gently remove the blackened tip before relighting.
2. First Burn Matters
Allow wax to melt fully across the surface on the first burn to prevent tunnelling.
Burn for at least 1 hour per inch of candle diameter.
Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
3. Burn Safely
- Keep away from drafts, fans, and open windows
- Avoid placing near curtains or flammable materials
- Always burn on a heat-resistant, stable surface
- Never move a burning candle
4. Extinguish Properly
Use a candle snuffer to safely extinguish the flame and reduce smoke or wick disturbance.
5. Safe Usage Limits
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours continuously
- Stop use when 10mm of wax remains
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Never leave a burning candle unattended
6. Storage and Care
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from sunlight to preserve fragrance and wax quality.
7. Clean Maintenance
After cooling, wipe the jar to remove soot or residue and maintain appearance.
8. Decorative Elements
Remove crystals, botanicals, or decorative elements before lighting to prevent fire risk.
Good to Know
- Coconut soy wax may appear bumpy or uneven after burning, this is normal.
- Wooden wicks naturally darken after use and should be trimmed before relighting.
