Seven + Ember Botanica Field Notes Candle Care and Safety Guide

Crafted with 100% pure essential oils and a natural coconut-soy wax blend, your Botanica Field Notes Scented Candle is designed to offer a grounding, sensory experience inspired by nature.

Proper candle care and maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your essential oil candles. To enjoy your candle to its fullest and ensure a clean, safe burn, please follow the care guidelines below. 


Before the First Burn

  • Trim the Wick: Before lighting, trim the wick to approximately 5mm. This promotes an even burn and prevents excessive smoke or soot. For wooden wicks, gently pinch or trim the blackened tip.

  • Allow a Full Melt Pool: Let the wax melt evenly across the entire surface during the first burn. This helps prevent tunneling and extends the life of your candle. We recommend burning for at least 1–2 hours on the first use.

While Burning

  • Burn Time: Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Overburning can cause overheating of the vessel and reduce the lifespan of your candle.

  • Keep Away from Drafts: Avoid placing your candle near open windows, fans, or air vents to prevent uneven burning and flickering.

  • Place on a Heat-Resistant Surface: Always burn your candle on a stable, heatproof surface, away from flammable materials.

  • Never Move a Burning Candle: Wait until the wax has fully cooled and solidified before handling or moving.

After Use

  • Re-trim the Wick: Before each new use, trim the wick again to maintain a clean and safe burn.

  • Remove Residue: After the candle has cooled, wipe away any soot or residue around the rim to keep your vessel looking beautiful.

  • Discontinue Use When 10mm of Wax Remains: Burning beyond this point can cause the vessel to overheat or crack.

Safety Notes

  • Burn within sight, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Keep away from children, pets, curtains, and soft furnishings.

  • Do not add water or foreign materials to the wax.

  • Avoid lighting your candle if any botanical elements (flowers, herbs, etc.) are sitting too close to the wick—remove them before use to prevent ignition.

Storage & Shelf Life

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the essential oils and natural ingredients.

  • Use within 12 months of purchase for optimal scent throw and performance.
